Instead of (or in addition to) meeting at the regular location and time, every December the Seattle Esperanto Society holds its annual birthday party to celebrate L.L. Zamenhof, the creator of Esperanto, who was born December 15, 1859.
Most years, we enjoy a “Green Elephant” Gift Exchange. Bring a wrapped gift: something small-- silly, cute, pretty, or serious-- that you no longer need (try to choose something that others will genuinely enjoy taking home), or you may purchase and wrap a small item with a value of under $5-$10). The Gift Exchange is entirely optional, so there is no need to feel obligated to bring a gift or to participate in this activity.
